Packing Tips

Victoria Falls days can take you from rainforest paths to river activities and open-air game viewing. Pack for warm sunshine, changing conditions and a little water spray around the Falls, while keeping your day bag light and easy to carry.

What to wear

  • Comfortable walking shoes with a good grip for damp or uneven paths.
  • Light, breathable clothing for warm daytime outings, plus a light layer for cooler mornings or evenings.
  • A compact rain jacket or poncho if you plan to walk through the rainforest near the Falls; spray can leave you and your belongings damp.
  • A hat and sunglasses for shade. For wildlife viewing, many guests prefer simple, neutral-coloured clothing.
  • Swimwear only if it suits your accommodation or planned activity.

Sun, water and day-trip essentials

  • High-protection sunscreen and a refillable water bottle.
  • Insect repellent, used according to its label.
  • A small day bag for your essentials, with a waterproof pouch or dry bag for your phone, camera and travel documents near the Falls or on the river.
  • Your camera or phone, spare battery or power bank, and a lens cloth for mist and fingerprints.
  • Any personal medication you may need while out, kept in its original packaging.

Documents and useful extras

Keep your passport, visas, travel-insurance details, accommodation information and emergency contacts secure but accessible. If your plans include a cross-border trip, carry the documents required for each country and check your visa conditions before departure. A small amount of local currency can be useful for incidental purchases and tips.

If your trip includes a safari or a flight

For game drives or a Chobe day trip, choose comfortable layers and pack binoculars if you have them. If your wider itinerary includes a light-aircraft transfer, check the operator’s current baggage allowance and soft-bag requirements before packing; limits can differ between services.
